Joseph Chan  Ph.D.   he/him

Call me Joe. I am an Australian living in Naarm / Melbourne. I speak English, Dutch, Cantonese, and Malay; I am learning Swedish.

I wrote my PhD in Mathematics at The University of Melbourne titled On Hyperbolic Monopoles, in the intersection of geometry and particle physics.

I work as a data scientist and ML engineer, with some experience in software engineering. My areas of interest are Reinforcement Learning and simulation.

Outside of work, I do (men's artistic) gymnastics and play the piano.

On the piano, I mostly play romantic era pieces. Lately, I have been learning to improvise in the classical tradition and to compose.
